A children’s author, a lover of muddy trails, a wife, a dog mom, and a very proud grandma who believes that life is meant to be lived bravely and without regrets.
For most of my life, I dreamed of writing a children’s book and a memoir, but I never felt I had the right character or the confidence to begin. Then one day, I brought home a bright Firecracker Red Jeep Gladiator named Sparky, and everything changed. What started as a simple need for a reliable vehicle grew into something far more meaningful: a journey of courage, community, and rediscovering who I am.
When I first started off-roading, I was terrified of even the most basic gravel roads. But Sparky taught me that bravery grows one small step at a time. Trail by trail, challenge by challenge, he helped me discover a strength I didn’t know I had. Just like Sparky comes home from the trails with little “pinstripes” and scratches that tell the story of where he’s been, I realized I carry my own quiet scars—the kind you don’t see, but that shape who you become. And just like him, I’ve learned to keep climbing.
Today, off-roading is more than a hobby for me; it’s a way of life I share with the people and animals I love. My husband often wheels with us, cheering me on and embracing every adventure right beside me. Our two dogs ride along with their noses in the breeze, always ready for the next bump, hill, or creek crossing. And one of my greatest joys is introducing my granddaughter to the fun and excitement of off-roading, showing her that it’s okay to be brave, to get muddy, and to welcome new experiences with an open heart.
This past year, I challenged myself more than ever before
traveling solo, wheeling solo, and even going skydiving
something I had always wanted to do but was too afraid to try. I promised myself a life with no regrets, and little by little, I’m keeping that promise.
Now I’m channeling all of these experiences—the growth, the courage, the laughter, the messy moments—into the stories I write. My children’s books, inspired by Sparky’s real-life adventures, are meant to encourage kids to believe in themselves, celebrate their differences, face their fears, and discover that even the smallest step can lead to the biggest adventure.
